Don’t Let Your Interior Doors Be An Afterthought

Interior doors don’t get enough credit. They can completely transform the look and feel of a home. Having doors that do not match the rest of your home’s décor will make it feel incomplete, and no matter what you do, your home won’t look quite right.

Do you feel like your home could benefit from updated interior doors? Let’s take a look at today’s trends.

Barn door leading to basement living room

Barn Doors

Barn doors have been all the rage for years, and if you haven’t included them in your home design, you’re missing out. These doors can elevate a simple space into something interesting and unique.

You can use just about any color, texture, or style of doors, which makes barn doors an excellent option for just about any home décor style. Some of the most common places to use them are between the master bedroom and master bathroom or between the kitchen and dining room.

Flush Doors

If you have a modern-style home, consider installing flush doors to complete the look. These doors have completely smooth surfaces and blend in with the walls around them. We love glazed flush doors in a minimalist, modern home since they add just enough character without being overbearing.

Panel Doors

If you prefer to keep your doors simple, you can’t go wrong with a panel door. Shaker-style panel doors, in particular, are very popular choices for interior doors because they are versatile yet classy. This style can work in a modern home just as well as it would in a traditional style or even a farmhouse-style home, so if you’re someone who frequently likes to switch up your design, a simple panel door may be your best option.

French Doors

Characterized by a double set of doors with glass panes in them, French doors work well in traditional-style homes. They are trendy choices for home offices since they allow a lot of light into the room while allowing you to see into the rest of the home while you’re working. They also work well leading into a dining room for the same reasons.

If you’d like a more modern take on the French door, we like sliding glass doors or folding glass doors. Not only will these doors make your space look up to date, but interior glass doors also do wonders for your home’s value!

Pop of Color

Regardless of the interior door style you choose, don’t be afraid to add some color. Pops of bright blues, pinks, and yellows will be a great way to add character to your home. If you’re more conservative in your design and color choices, going with black or natural wood is also more exciting than an ordinary white door.
